Ramblings

This page is basically a scrapbook for little thoughts, rants on pet peeves, favourite sayings or quotations that I feel the need to bring together or just get of my chest. Comments about anything on this page are more than welcome as long as they are not just senseless flames.  I may even publish the more intelligent ones. :-) You can email me here.

On Justice

It seems that finally, the Western world has woken up to the crimes of the Israeli government against the Palestinians, whose lands they have illegally occupied for the past 40 years or more. I would hope that the international community would see fit to achieving justice for the Palestinians at last after years of blind support for the Israelli invaders. However, I suspect that this will not be the case. Political and economic interest will always win out, even if it means that more Palestinians die or are uprooted. As long as the west insists on putting it's own priorities above those of natural justice we will always live under the threat of violent retaliation because when you refuse to listen to the oppressed, they often are left with no other course of action but take up arms against their oppressor and those who support them. America is running the risk of another September the 11th if it does not wake up to the fact that there are higher causes in this world than it's own selfish interests. The Palestinian people have every right to their lands, pride and freedom and it's about time we made damn sure they got them back.

"Above all, feel in the deepest part of your soul any injustice committed against any person anywhere in the world."

"If you tremble indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine."

Che Guevara.

On the environment

I did my University thesis on the effect of demographic changes (increases in population) on the environment, but my thoughts on the industrialised world and it's relationship to the environment are probably best summed up by an old Cree Indian Prophecy:

"Only after the last tree has been cut down,

Only after the last river has been poisoned,

Only after the last fish has been caught,

Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten."
